Belper Town council have donated £3000 pounds to the Drop Inn to help with our overheads this year. As a few people are aware we are a very popular and very successful community organization with some amazing assets, unfortunately we always struggle to fund running costs. So a big thank You to Belper Town Council!
We are putting things in place this year which will allow us to utilize our assets and specialized skills and hire them out to a wider reach of people in our community, which will result in us becoming more self sustainable, leaving more money to run outrageous and creative projects.
We have received a cheque for £1000, which was from winning the Vinspired Genius National Award in November 2009. We think it's going toward buying some new Power amps for our Frankenstein Sound System. The Award was for the 'Safe Raves' project ran by Tom Stone, the prize money will be going towards something to make the 'Safe Raves' even better for 2010!
This is a mirrored photo of where MC Spyda stood after the last 'Safe Rave' of 2009. We are going to try and get a picture of any big celebrity next to our sign, so eventually we can have them all in a wall of fame.
This was the design for the posters and flyers that circulated Belper. This design layout will become a template for all the 2010 'Safe Raves' so it become cheap and easy to promote each individual event.
We designed the Skate ramp to convert into shelves for Our Frankenstein Sound System. The other parts of the skate ramp make-up the stage for performances and the resident DJ's. The Sound System is sounding better than before!
The Drop Inn is now home to this wonderful new Radio Broadcasting Equipment. There is a limited amount of these portable radio studio's been produced so far so we are very proud to house it and The Drop Inn.
A Photo of the Radio broadcaster all set up and ready to use. This was part of the first demonstration. There is only 9 of these radio broadcasters been created so far, so we are so privileged to have one housed at The Drop Inn.
From the Bag Packing at Morrisons just before Christmas with the Rotary Club we raised some funding together. Some members of the Belper and Duffield Rotary came on Monday night to present us with a check for £450 after putting some more money into the pot we raised on the night. Thank You Rotary Club, it was a lot of fun and we would love to help out again!!
The DJ workshops have restarted on Monday nights. With loads of the Young people bringing down there own new vinyl's to spin on the decks with DJ Shookz. We'll hopefully have a new amp soon to test the new Frankenstein sound system upgrade.
A Semi-Pro Table Tennis Player by the name of Ae came in on a Thursday night to start coaching Table Tennis. It was amazing to watch and the young people learnt a bit about playing Professional Table Tennis. Ade said he had run and wants to come back and do more coaching sessions. It's Brilliant!!
Check this amazing technology out. We would love to use this as 3D Graffiti technology for a demonstration. If nothing else watch the video for inspiration. Anything we like the look of or find inspiring ourselves this year, we are going to post. So we can share out motive behind new idea's and hopefully encourage other people to share brilliant idea's Check this film out: Graffiti Analysis 2.0. It's amazing, one of our missions this year will be to sort host some crazy Multi Media exhibitions.
Belper News ran an article on Laura's regional Transform award she got in November just before Christmas. Now Laura's amazing success story has been picked up by Radio Derby, who want to know more about Laura's story and what she does down at the Drop Inn. Laura was one of the Original Young people to attend and get involved in The Drop Inn when she was only 15. Now she is helping run the centre as the General Manager along side the other Young Management team. The broadcast was at 11.15.
