We are joining another local community group to help clean up sections of the Coppice brook that runs through Belper.
This project will involve some of our Young people and we are hoping to make it an intergenerational project and involve some of the older members of the community through Linking Lives.
The idea being the Young people will clean it up and document the Clean up and the Older Members of the Community can help out by pointing out rubbish and maybe supply refreshments at certain check points, they can also tell stories and the history of the Coppice Brook, to illustrate the importance of keeping it clean.
This project is planned for some time in July, We will keep you all posted on the planning and updates.

Linking Lives Coffee Morning
Linking Lives held a coffee morning, this included refreshments and some entertainment.
There was a series of films screened and some interesting live performances by Adie and Jasper.
The work experience students from Belper School enticed people in, and did a very good job helping out through out the event.
We saw a lot of new faces, looking forward to the next one.

National Older peoples Day
A mix of older and younger people meet up at the Drop Inn to celebrate National Older Peoples Day. There was a screening of the latest Filmcity, linking lives and Drop Inn film collaboration. There was a nice selection of food and live entertainments from At Baker and Jasper. As part of the District 56 intergenerational multi media project, Jasper ad Adie performed the musical section of the original film live on stage, along with their version of "Dear Albert."
We saw some more new faces in attendance, it was a really enjoyable day of celebrations for all. Thank You to all who turned up and the people who organized it.

District 56 Launch
Launch of the Latest intergenerational Multi Media project involving The Drop Inn Young People, Linking Lives and Filmcity.

Opening times for the Film launch on the 18th June! Don't miss it!
This is our favorite project creation so far! It involves a mockumentary style film, which then converts into an actual Documentary, then a drama with characters featured from the 'role reversal' film, then it's climax is a music video focused on stereotypes and inters-crimination.
It is a brilliant film please don't miss it!

Linking Lives @ Greyhound
This Linking Lives Media event went really well. The event was at The Greyhound Pub on the Whitemoore estate in Belper. The night opened with Jaspers performing again, then there was two quiz's, one based on media and the other based on the history of Belper. After the quiz's Ant the new volunteer sang a few familiar song. He kept that really great talent quiet, it was brilliant! Then there was a few interviews and Jasper closed the event. Thank You to all who attended and the entertainers, a thoroughly fun night again.

Forensic Night
The forensic night was really interesting. A team of forensic scientists came in to demonstrate what they do to help solve what happened at a crime scene. It started off with a presentation. Them everyone was split into four groups and shown different techniques in finding evidence on different surfaces. It was truly amazing to watch. This was a linking lives, Derby university and Derbyshire constabulary partnership project.
The Drop Inn was decorated with these "do not enter" banners everywhere. It was a really good set up. With loads of different thing for people to do.
This activity was to simulate a crime scene investigation. The lights were off to start with so you could only see what the light from a little touch was pointed at. Once the main lights were turned on, everyone was feeling queazy toward a rotting body (Model of course) in the corner, with added maggots. The whole demonstration was so interesting.
Here are the forensic scientists of the future. After all the training and demonstrations they all experienced, they can now go out and solve some mysteries! Looking forward to doing this night again, thank you, and please come again.

Back to The Future Conference
Andrea and Libby got selected from the Drop Inn centre along side Gill Clarke from DIgS to go and do a presentation about the intergenerational work they have been working on. The 'Back to the Future' intergenerational conference was held at the Inmarstat conference centre in London. The three of them presented the 'Role Reversal' project which was the summer project both organisation paired up to create along side with Filmcity. The trailer for the 'Role Reversal' film was screened as part of the presentation. Then in the afternoon there were two workshops delivered to different groups. All followed up with an after-party.
It was a great promotion for the intergenerational work we are doing at the Drop Inn, with people traveling from all corners of Europe to be there.

MacMillan Coffee Morning
We handed loads of leaflets out in King Street and around Town. There was a few younger people helping out from Belper School, Unfortunately there wasn't that many older people who attended this event. Quite a few older people approach with the leaflets said they had already supported the Charity. It was still a nice morning with some new faces to Visit the Drop Inn. Thank You to everyone that helped out and attended the event. D-i x

TALK? Performance
Talk is a performance about the difference in communication across generations.
The first performance we've been putting together. The performance is based on communication through the generations, which leads to a discussion about how people used to communicate with drums and movement. The Performance is a combination between a projected film interacting with a live dance routine with live drumming sessions. We had a technical issue but still pleased all the guests at the conference in Matlock.

The Welcome Tradition
The Welcome tradition was the first meeting for the Linking Lives project. It was a pilot run to see the responses of the Youth and the Seniors. For more information go to the Linking Lives blog.
